This Easter was spent mostly traveling. From 12:30 AM PST to 4:45 PM PST, we were traveling from Orlando, Florida to Orange County, California (16 hours). The reason we were traveling for so long is that we missed our flight and had to wait 4 hours for the next one. We did not anticipate how busy the Orlando Airport was going to be at 4:30 AM Florida Time. I thought it was going to be a ghost town, but it was packed!Missing our flight was extremely inconvenient because we had our 8 month old, and we were going to miss all of Easter. Instead of arriving at 10:00 AM, we arrived at 3:45 PM in Los Angeles.

Then, we had to drive an hour to my parents house in Orange County. Once we were at my parent’s house, we started getting ready to celebrate Easter. I had dropped off our Easter outfits before our trip so that we could change into our Easter best once we arrived. Next, Quincy did an Easter egg hunt, and got an Easter basket from her grandma and great grandma. Finally, we ate dinner together and enjoyed talking about our trip to Orlando.

When we finally got back to our house around 11:00 PM, we were exhausted, and we knocked out. Monday was our get back to normal day, so it wasn’t until Tuesday that Quincy got her Easter basket from mommy and daddy. Sometimes that is just how life goes. I could have been upset that we didn’t do Easter with her on Easter Sunday, but I reminded myself that she is a baby and will not realize the difference. Us moms gotta give ourselves a break!

Overall, we had a unique Easter which is fitting for how this pandemic year has been. Every holiday this year seems not to have been as expected, and this Easter was no exception. We did not expect to be traveling most of Easter and not being able to celebrate at our own home, but we did still get to see family and celebrate on Easter Sunday. I have to remind myself that Easter is about love, family, and the resurrection. The minor hiccups did not take away from those things. Happy Easter everyone! He is Risen!
