Coffee Dose in Costa Mesa Review

Coffee Dose: 116 E 18th St., Costa Mesa, CA 92627

When I arrived at this coffee shop, I knew it was going to be good. There was already a long line. There is not much seating. 6 seats and 3 tables outside and a small seating area for one group with a couch and a few chairs inside. It seemed the best option was to grab and go. They also offer mobile order. Their drinks offer milk substitutes like oat milk, almond milk, etc. They have coffee, matcha, and more with unique flavors. I chose the Goldie and the churro donut. The donut was small, but a perfect size for me with my coffee. Both were delicious and items I would get again. Lastly, the atmosphere is fun and young. If you are uncomfortable with swear words, best to avoid. They put a cute sticker on their drinks. Mine was read and said “Hot Girl Shit”. I believe this was a holiday sticker because it was Valentine’s Day. Their usual stickers say “Anti-Bitch” and other fun slogans. Since this place is on the way to Newport Beach, I definitely think this may become my coffee stop before walking the boardwalk with my little one.

Churro Donut and The Goldie Drink
Funny Stickers added to cups!
Outside has 3 outdoor tables and 6 seats.
Even the sign outside is hilarious!
Quincy and I on Valentine’s Day… She already loves Donuts haha

Harry Potter Gender Reveal Games Table:

We played 3 games. The first was the “Goblet of Fire Raffle”. Our guests would drop an advice card for us in the goblet of fire. At the end of the party, we would draw an advice card from the Goblet and that would be our winner. I bought the plastic bowl at Dollar Tree and the Gold Sharpie paint pen at Target to make the flames. I printed flames to use as a stencil. I made the sign for this game using a frame from Amazon, the Harry Potter font, and an image from Google. The second game was “Expelliarmus”. I purchased this sign on Etsy, added instructions with the Harry Potter font, and bought the frame on Amazon. The wands were bought on Etsy. Our guests were not allowed to say boy, girl, or baby or else their wands would be taken. The person with the most wands at the end won. Our Third game was “Save Dobby: Guess How Many Socks”. I put a bunch of baby socks in a jar and guests would write their best guess of how many socks on a card. The winner who guessed the closest to the number got a prize. I bought the Jar at a Marshall’s. The Save Dobby sticker was bought on Amazon. The instructions sign was purchased on Etsy and the frame was bought on Amazon. The remaining containers and tablecloth were purchased at Dollar Tree.

The first two prizes were a Harry Potter Mug with a Starbucks card. I purchased the Mugs at Marshall’s or TJ Maxx. The third prize was a Sorcerer’s Stone and Chamber of Secrets DVDs and a chocolate wand. I purchased the DVDs on Amazon and the chocolate wand at Marshall’s/TJ Maxx. I also gave toilet paper as a prize for a game with a tie because it was a hot commodity during the pandemic.

The Reveal:

See above for where the items on this table were purchased. We chose to do two types of reveals in case the first didn’t work and for photos. The first reveal, I got smoke bombs from a gender reveal website. We put them inside empty tin cans in the cauldron and lit them. There was one smoke bomb for each of us inside the cauldron. The second reveal was hiding a pair of booties under the sorting hat. I bought the booties and our shirts on Etsy.

Our reveal revealed we were having a girl. My husband wanted a girl and was very excited, but I wanted a boy. If you look on ny Instagram, you can see my hilarious reaction. Spoiler, I fall over. This party was so fun, and I loved putting it together. The reveal was a magical success!
